Free Hugs Campaign - A Reprise
Remember the Free Hugs Campaign? I posted an article about it on the AFP website last year when this video, viewed more than 19 million times, first hit YouTube. Since then, Juan Mann (not his real name) and his campaign to bring hugs to everyone has spread around the globe, with “hug” videos from several other countries now on YouTube.
So I thought it would be fun, a year later, to revisit the video that helped kick-start the movement. Give it a watch. It’s entertaining and, in a strange way, inspiring. I suspect John Lennon fans, especially, will enjoy it. The music is by Sick Puppies.
I guess it proves what just “Juan Mann” can accomplish if he markets his message effectively.

I have to admit, it put me in a good mood. But I'm not so sure I would stop on a busy street to get a hug unless it was Halle Berry passing them out.
I remember when this was the buzz. I agree, it does start the day on a warm and fuzzy note. I have a feeling it wouldn't play well in Austin, though.
Now I feel like I have to head for Starbucks and maybe hug someone! If I land in jail I'm calling you to make my bail!!
I need a hug!!!
Me too!!
Okay, let's all have a big "group hug".
There. Now don't we all feel better?
Really cool song!! On the way to iTunes right now to download it!!
Oh, I feel all soft and gushy inside. I've got to go hug somebody!
Can somebody please explain to me why all these people would stop in the middle of what they were doing or where they were going just to hug this long-haired stranger? Doesn't that strike any of you as counter to everything we were taught from childhood? Do we know this guy? Is he up to no good? Does he have a communicable disease? Will he pick our pockets? Is he a pervert?
Come on!
The Puppies Rock!!
Where is your heart, Jeff?
I wouldn't encourage my daughter to hug him, but adults? Come on, be free, love your fellow man, imagine.
