Winter Radiance
“There is nothing in the world more beautiful than the forest clothed to its very hollows in snow. It is the still ecstasy of nature, wherein every spray, every blade of grass, every spire of reed, every intricacy of twig, is clad with radiance.” - William Sharp

Great shot, nice composition. It's what I always picture when I think of winter.
Hope you had a nice Christmas. Ours was wonderful; my brother and hos family came over and spent the night. It was a family Christmas, the best kind.
Very nice image and sentiment. I too like scenes like this one, but when it is blowing sleet and the roads are icy, then I don't think nice things about winter. But you folks in California get to enjoy the mountains and skiing so I can understand your liking it. And it is pretty to look at like this.
How pretty! And a perfect quote!
Very cool photo and I agree, the quote is perfect for it.
I know what Harmond is talking about. If you have ever visited the midwest during a hard winter, it can be the worst. It gets so cold your face gets frostbitten and the wind makes it hard to even walk without falling. The snow comes down so heavy you can't see where you are going and the roads are so slippery it is tough to stay on them.
Other than that, it is heavenly. And midwestern girls are the best!!
A good use of the "Rule of Thirds". Nice image of Northstar.
Beautiful picture. It does look wonderful, calm, serene, clean and inviting, doesn't it? We are not skiers but it makes you want to be.
I am ready to go skiing!! Get the hot buttered rum ready!!
Very nice image. A little more foreground might have improved composition but still a good image.
A story book winter scene.
A "postcard" photo. Nice, but how about trying some more artistic photos? Doesn't have to be nudes (I have nothing against nubes!) but some cool lighting on faces, that kind of thing would be nice to see.
Don't misunderstand, I like your photos. Just a suggestion if you are looking for a challenge.
Nor do I have anything against nudes, Frank, (nubes either) and I'll consider your suggestion. Fact is, though, I haven't spent much time on personal shoots the last couple years and I'll admit to missing them.
So I'll make that a resolution for 2008: I'll at least try to make time for some more challenging imagery.
