Uno de Mayo
I haven’t yet driven downtown this morning to check out the gathering demonstrators, many illegal aliens, demanding amnesty and socialism. Most expect a smaller turnout than the ones launched in major cities last year. If I get any good pictures, I’ll post them. Meanwhile, here are six images from last year’s, uh, “event.”

We had very little in the way of demonstrations, more like a few Mexicans carrying signs around. Nothing like last year. They want amnesty for illegal aliens (excuse me, "undocumented immigrants"), health care and drivers licenses. You are right, they want socialism. After all, no one else has ever made it work but maybe the good old US of A can.
The photos are really good! In LA, they were more aggressive. It's like gang land here. They DEMAND amnesty and jobs. They claim there are now 13 million, not 12, of them and they are taking back the continent. Lots of fists and Spanish words on signs I couldn't read.
And Bush isn't doing anything but offering them some kind of work permit which will just bring more. I say if there were no illegals to do the work, it would either not get done or employers would pay whatever it took to get it done with legal immigrants/citizens. I don't care if I have to pay twice as much for some vegetables.
Cynics. We can't handle the logistics of rounding up and deporting 12 million illegals so we have to make the best of the situation. Have a worker program is a way of keeping tabs on them. It is a step in the right direction.
Calling an illegal alien an undocumented immigrant is like calling a drug dealer an unlicensed pharmacist.
I guess you didn't get any new pictures?
No, I wasn't able to get down to the Capitol to photograph whatever went on, but I don't think it was much of a turnout. I heard one demonstrator, walking with his family near the Secretary of State's office carrying folded up signs, say that just because more Mexicans didn't come "doesn't mean they don't want it" [amnesty etc}.
Great photos!
