Fred Thompson

The confrontation over Cuba continues. Michael Moore has challenged Fred Thompson to a health care debate. At issue — Moore’s trip to Cuba and Thompson’s criticism of that trip. Moore noted Thompson’s evident favor for Cuban cigars as a possible violation of the trade embargo. Now Thompson responds, cigar in hand…

Interesting to see such a well-known politician/actor responding to the likes of Moore. Shows a sense of humor by puffing the stogie without addressing the Montecristos issue, just a sharp rebuttal with a dismissive attitude. But the attention is more than Moore deserves.

Thompson seems like a likable guy. But don't get behind him simply because he plays a tough decision maker on TV and has a deep, "presidential" sounding voice. He doesn't have the credentials to win IMHO. The Republicans will most likely pick Giuliani/Rice. He is a proven leader who gets things done and she is extremely savvy.

I doubt H. Clinton can win for the dems, not only because she is just another shrill Pelosi IMHO, but because the country really isn't quite ready for a female president. A vp, perhaps, but not president.
