I think I like the first one best, the sphere. It is small and would take some adjustment to get used to living in such a small space, but it is my favorite.
$70,000 for a tree house? And you still need a forest to build it in?
David, didn't you ever play in a tree house when you were little? Remember how fun it was? Everyone dreams of something like this even if they don't get to do it.
I like the sphere too! I could live in one of these for sure!
I had a tree house when I was little. My father built it for me and my sisters in our back yard. He nailed boards into the truck for us to climb up. It wasn't very big, but it was ours. We fixed it up inside and ate lunches in it during the summer. Some of my favorite memories were from the tree house.
I would love to have one of these. The one is way too big, but I think the sphere is perfect.
I could get into tree house living. I live in NYC so I'm already used to smaller spaces. But I love the city and would have to keep my flat just so I could return every couple months to reenergize.
A neat idea, but who do you call for maintenance? "Hello, my sphere needs refinishing?" And I would hate to have to pee in the middle of the night and have that climb down in the dark to look forward to. But for a vacation home in some beautiful, secluded wilderness? Five stars.
Just take a flashlight. But don't try it after a bender.
Can you imagine what a great deer blind this would make? I bet photographers would love one of these if it was hanging a little higher, say in a wildlife refuge.
I WANT one of these!
(Where will I put it?)
Here is a business idea, Doug: We buy two dozen or so of the spheres, have them installed in a little piece of isolated wilderness, add some optional adventure wilderness experiences, and rent them to people like you who crave that kind of thing. It would be a treehouse "community," very pricey, catering to the rich and bored looking for something new in a vacation experience. What do you think?
Sounds like a good idea. Need to find some alternatives for location. I like the concept. Why don't you flesh it out some more and email me?

Although some treehouse builders advocate a free-form approach, it's safest to plan the structure on paper before starting work. Allow for a deck if you want one, and don't make the treehouse too big for the tree.
