Free Wi-Fi HotSpots for AT&T Broadband Subscribers!

Here’s some good news for AT&T broadband subscribers: Free Wi-Fi at AT&T’s 10,000 or so Hot-Spots! I haven’t read all the particulars yet but it appears that Premier and Basic service levels benefit. Key for me will be learning what “additional” locations are included since I don’t spend a lot of time at Barnes & Noble or McDonald’s. But hey, anything that adds to the puny number of free HotSpots in my area is a bonus!

Great! I refuse to pay Starbucks rates for WiFi access so this is good for me if as you say the "other" category offers good options. I never go to McDonald's, seldom am at airports, am usually in a hurry at a Barns & Noble, etc.

I hear a rising hurrah from iPhone fanboys everywhere.

Notice that most of the McDonalds hotspots are in the midwest and south, obesity capitols of the world. Could there be a connection?

Won't help me, I am locked in to Verizon for another year! Maybe then.

Lenny: I suppose iPhone users are rejoicing depending on how many HotSpots they pick up in their particular areas. I'll need to check and see where they are all located to know whether we'll benefit.

I notice that AT&T is or soon will be allowing business accounts. That was initially an inconvenience for iPhone users who were forced to open personal accounts.

Sounds like the folks at AT&T are talking with Jobs and paving the way for a better relationship for iPhone customers. I look at all of this as positive.
