Total Lunar Eclipse
Did you see it? Night before last, we were witness to one of science’s more fascinating phenomenons — a total lunar eclipse. Dawn and I were driving home and watched it directly in front of us as we made our way up the hill from Sacramento, at least until it became obscured by clouds. It never ceases to amaze us, as I suppose is true for most people since such occurrences are some of the most witnessed and photographed worldwide. This image comes courtesy of Simone Vitale of Tucson, Arizona.
Want to be ready for the next lunar eclipse? Here’s a list through 2020.

We watched all of it from our backyard! We took a lot of pictures but they didn't come out very good with our little camera. Eclipses make us realize that we aren't really very far from the moon when we can watch it come in and out of our shadow right in our own back yard!!
we too saw it thru our telescope in southern alberta. amazing!!
Very nice pic; we had cloudy evening, Tucson, AZ; good to see this view.
I was lucky enough to be in a plane at the time. The United pilot was nice enough to change course slightly and tilt the plane so those of us on the right side could see the eclipse in the top of our windows. He did it twice and we got two very interesting and relatively up close views of the eclipse between Denver and NYC. Ii have never seen such a beautiful lunar event in my life. What a great opportunity that I thought I was going to miss!
Couldn't believe it. In Miami Fl. on the beach and nothing but clouds till too late! Thanks for the link to the next totals, I don't want to miss the next one!
I was not able to see it actually happen because of all the clouds here in the Broken Bow area. Thanks for the great pic!!
Actually, the clouds here in the Atlanta area cleared out just in time. At exactly 10 p.m., I took my son outside and we looked up and saw that amazing, orange moon. Just 15 minutes later, it was cloudy again. What cool thing to see. (And I for one am extremely glad that my government can shoot an incoming missile out of the sky before it hits my hometown, thank you very much. A good defense is never a bad thing.)
You might enjoy viewing some of Steev Selby's photos of lunar eclipses. Quite impressive!
If you missed the eclipse (many did due to cloud cover), you can view images of the entire event taken by the Discovery Channel.
