Dilbert - The Knack (5:11 Minisode)
Ever watch Dilbert, the TV version of the well known Scott Adams comic strip? This is a Dilbert “minisode”, a five minute short, but you can watch full length TV shows as well on this site.
It’s called Hulu, a website that offers free, high-quality streaming video of TV shows and movies, primarily from NBC and FOX and their cable networks. It’s supported by occasional commercials (sorry, but at least they’re short) and provides higher viewing quality than YouTube, even some offerings in HD. Miss an episode of The Office or House? Catch it here!
Sorry, no downloads, but if you’ve got an Apple iTV, you can probably stream to your big screen. How cool is that?

I have iTV. I'll try it this weekend and let you know how it goes. The HD shows especially should be great!
LOL! This was super. I love Dilbert. I will watch a House episode next. Thanks for the heads up!
Nice to know. My wife doesn't like Family Guy so I can catch see missed shows now.
Awesome!!
Great. Something else I can watch during boring meetings.
This is actually pretty slick. Picture quality beats YouTube by a mile and the interface is better too. Good find!
This si cool. The kids are going to love it but I will have to watch what they watch.
Vote Dilbert & Dino for Pres/VP in '08!
I need a new bumper sticker!
LOL! This is a pretty cool site, I will play with it more this weekend when I can have some time to myself.
I watch this all the time. It's a great way to watch TV shows when I can't sleep and don't want to wake up Sarah. I just plug my earphones into my laptop and watch away. There is usually only a couple 30 second commercials, way less than network. It's all good!
Good news: Hulu gave thumbs up last month to the addition of Comedy Central’s THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART and THE COLBERT REPORT to their digital library.
Bad News: I still can’t take Hulu episodes on a plane, train or automobile. Not to mention watch them outside of the US.
Hulu's product is great--much better than I initially expected. But Hulu's content is still limited, and it is still too slow in posting videos in real-time (to find the stuff that just aired that everyone's talking about, you have to go to YouTube), but these problems can be solved. Overall, the service is slick, easy to use, and a pleasure to watch.
But Hulu-the-company is still in a tough spot because it's too dependent on a handful of content partners and it bears most of the costs of streaming videos while its partners take most of the revenue. Hardly a good business model imho.
It reminds me of @Home in the late 90s. One of @Home's fatal problems was that its equity owners, the cable companies, were competitors. The competing interests ultimately prevented @Home from doing what it needed to do to build a sustainable business. A similar dynamic exists at Hulu: Owners News Corp and NBC aren't exactly the best of friends.
Unfortunately, when the weakness of @Home's business model was finally revealed, it went bust. I hope the same fate doesn't befall Hulu.
Hulu is stomping YouYube imho. Hulu posts clips on YouTube which direct viewers to Hulu to see entire episodes which results in ad revenue at a cost to Hulu of zero. Pretty slick. I don't know about the ownership issues, but I intend to watch Hulu as long as it is free and running with good content.
Much to everyone's amazement, Hulu doesn't suck. Seriously. When Fox and NBC first announced plans to get into the online video streaming business, a lot of commenters spent a lot of time talking about how silly it would be to take on YouTube. And then Hulu started showing full length movies and TV shows with minimal advertisements. The video quality is fairly good, and the content library includes things you might actually want to watch. Now, just three months after publicly launching, Hulu reports (May figures) that:
* The site has served up more than 63 million video streams
* The average Hulu user watches 2 hours of Hulu video each month
* Hulu is now the top network video site
Hulu has also launched a distribution deal with TV.com and plans to stream video through TVGuide.com, Break.com, Zap2it, BuddyTV, Flixter, and MyYearbook according to DownloadSquad.
Now for the bad news. Hulu is still completely unavailable to anyone outside of the US.
