I wish you would clarify once and for all which way you are leaning in this presidential election :-p

Funny one.

I read the info you referenced (wikipedia) about the whole Troopergate matter. It sounds to me like Palin relied on her sister's side of the divorce issue (not unusual) and tried to be a good sister by inquiring why such a dirtwad hadn't been fired or more appropriately disciplined. Based on things her sister alleges, I wonder myself.

But the legal issue isn't whether the husband is or isn't a dirtwad. It is whether Palin pressured the dirtwad's ex-boss to fire him. And the dirtwad's ex-boss has stated, on the record, that she and her family did not.

Then later on he implied that "maybe" there was some pressure from somewhere. Now he "thinks" there was pressure.

At the time of his firing, the dirtwad's ex-boss said on the record that he was an "at will" employee and that Palin wanted to take the office in a new direction, completely within her authority (and not unusual). Much later he decided that "maybe" it was because he didn't fire the dirtwad.

I think maybe the pressure he is feeling is from democrats who want to make him the party's poster boy for destroying McCain-Palin promoting truth and justice for all.

This is the part of American politics most people hate. I hope the witch hunt investigation fizzles.

I agree, this whole "troopergate" issue is being fanned by Dems, including a rush to complete their "investigation" by Oct 10 instead of Oct 31 so as to create a FUD factor to confuse voters. It is a witch hunt hoping to find something they can use to pierce the Republican's balloon. I don't think even they hope to find a crime or wrong doing but they hope to be able to instill enough FUD to sway opinion back in their favor.

You are right, this side of "party politics" makes me want to hurl.

Donald explain please what is "FUD factor"?

Looks like nothing is off limits now. The dems are stunned and suddenly more desperate. This is an emergency tactic.

I wish the Republicans would push for a Senate investigation into the connection between William Ayers and Barack Obama. There is a little buzz on a couple blogs, but that looks more damaging than so called troopergate. I mean, that association alone would prevent Obama from getting a Security Clearance, required to be privy to our top government secrets. Without one, he couldn't qualify for a job checking your baggage at the airport!

FUD = Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt.

A tactic used to paralyze your opponent's ability to choose or decide. In the practice of law, it is used to create "reasonable doubt".

But in politics it is FUDD = Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt, Deception.

Troopergate = FUDD.

It is important to recognize when FUD (or FUDD) is being used so that you can prevent it from influencing your judgment. In the present instance, whether or not Palin "wanted" her sister's husband fired isn't a big deal on the national radar. Can the dems prove (or even make a strong caee) that her reason for firing his boss was in fact retaliation? No. So why all the noise and a big "investigation"? FUDD.

Thank you Donald!

Konababe: "I wish you would clarify once and for all which way you are leaning in this presidential election :-p"

Well, Kona, I like to keep my personal political opinions a secret so as to appear fair and impartial to liberals. Obviously, the same wisdom applies to my leanings in this election.
