From Closet to Naked Socialism

“While Americans were asleep at the wheel, a faction of our government was planning the nation’s shift to socialism, a drastic move calculated to preserve their power after their brutal rape of the treasury had rendered the country technically insolvent. Liberal lawmakers, and those that influence them, had been moving in that direction for years. Now, with control of both houses and the strategic placement of Barack Obama as president, they were ready to move to the final phase…”

Sounds like the plot of a Michael Crighton doomsday thriller, doesn’t it? But it’s not as far fetched as you might think. We’re already quasi-socialists. Socialized medicine is next, to be followed by our government taking larger portions of our incomes for redistribution to others. We’ll become increasingly dependent on government for more and more services, surrendering more of our incomes for redistribution until, finally, we’re a nation of socialists with government “sharing” all wealth - yours and mine - for the good of the state.

How did we allow this to happen? Well, the GOP put us here by giving us eight years of George W. Bush and then, when Romney could probably have beaten Obama by a good 20 points, backing over-the-hill war hero John McCain instead. Don’t get me wrong, I like and respect John McCain, but he was the wrong choice for such an important campaign.

But I’m through licking my political wounds. Now I’m bracing for eight years of well orchestrated programs and tax initiatives aimed at advancing us from “closet” socialism to “naked” socialism. That’s the “change” Obama promised, what his political upbringing taught him was needed in America, and what he and political adviser Robert Reich, along with other socialists like Charlie Rangle, are already working hard to implement. Get used to social engineering the likes of which this country has never seen. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.

That's a little cynacal, don't you think? I mean shouldn't we give Obama and Congress a chance and see how they do before we start condemning them? They haven't even had their 100 days yet. BTW, Charlie Rangel has nothing to do with any of this. And who's quotation is that? They must be a doomsday theorist.

Truth brother!

I read that democrats think they have enough power (both houses and the president) now to push through their so called 'Fairness Doctrine' to put conservative talk radio out of business. If that happens, it would be government censorship and if that happens, we will be living in a communist/socialist dictatorship.

Love the cartoon. Hits the nail on the head :)

Obama doesn't seem like he wants to overthrow the government, he just sees things differently and wants top try a different way to improve things than we had before. We should give his new ways a chance to succeed. He promised change, remember?

Romney wouldn't have faired much better than McCain against Obama. He ran a great campaign and the media never even asked him for any specifics. People were just tired of Bush's bumbling and figured anything else would be an improvement. "Change" became whatever the dims wanted it to mean, lumping the entire Republican Party in with Bush, suggesting Republicans = Bush while Change = me (Obama). He effectively ran a campaign against Bush who wasn't even running.

Are we stupid or what?

Terrific opening for a thriller book! You could even get a movie with a plot like that! Go for it! Seriously!

Are you freakin' kidding me? A government bank that buys whatever crappy paper the bank ends up with? That's a formula for disaster!

January 28 | Unregistered CommenterTeddy

That's rich! The Obama Bank will take taxpayer money to buy worthless assets. That is supposed to stimulate the economy. So his plan is to take our money "for our own good". You are right. He is either a raving socialist or a communist!! Either way, the country loses.

Sandy, Sandy, Sandy, take off your rose colored glasses and see what is really happening right before your eyes! We are being led down the primrose path to becoming a socialist state! His "new ways"? They've been tried countless times before in other countries and never worked in an industrialized society. But there is always someone like Obama who thinks HIS approach to socialism will work. It won't.

Ert987: "And who's quotation is that? They must be a doomsday theorist."

Since you asked, the quotation is mine and I'm not a "doomsday theorist". Nor am I a pollyanna, as you seem to be.

To recognize Marxist beliefs, you need to first understand them. I suggest you read the teachings of Friedrich Engels and Karl Marx, and then Socialism (economic system characterized by public ownership and centralized planning of all major industries, i.e. manufacturing, services, energy, banks and insurance companies, agribusiness, transportation, the media, and medical facilities.

I suspect you'll then see the parallels between those forms of government and the direction Obama (and the closet socialists in Congress) are taking the country.

And how exactly is Obama trying to take over the media?

January 28 | Unregistered Commenterert987

ert987: "How is Obama trying to take over the media?"

Watch for Congress to try again to ram through the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" which is intended to make it a "fair" playing field for liberals (who have always failed at liberal talk radio) by eliminating conservative talk radio.

In the past, liberals have successfully "influenced" the media. But talk radio shines a light on them and countering with liberal talk radio has always failed to draw an audience. So now they want to legislate away the competition. If they succeed, Pandora's Box will be wide open.

I don't know marxism or if Obama is trying to convert us to it, but the cartoon to me is how government has always worked.

January 28 | Unregistered CommenterYolanda

Good article Doug. I just hope enough people wise up before we're saluting Congress and Obama.

I love it. Bank of Obama: "Bring us your tired, your defaulted, your worthless paper."

January 28 | Unregistered CommenterWoodie

That is funny. "Bank of Omama. Or will it be shortened to BofO?
