More On the Southern California Fires

SignOnSanDiego has posted a great interactive map that allows you to see where the fires are, click on specific areas for the latest statistics and status, click on icons to view photos and videos from specific areas, and more. It’s pretty well done; you can zoom in or out, move the map up or down and pretty much keep track, interactively, of all the fires. Those of you near the fires or with friends or family in harm’s way will appreciate this additional tool to keep informed.

A little slow loading on my old workhorse PC, but filled with cool stuff. And it appears to be updated regularly so the info is always fresh. A very handy tool to keep track of how the fires are being controlled, who is being allowed to return to their homes, and so on.

My in-laws live in a part of San Diego County not far from the fires so I have been on pins and needles about their well being. This helps.

Highly recommended.

A very handy map all right. There is much packed in. The key is that they seem to update it at least every day.

I am unable to get the map to work. Have they disabled it?

There's a lot going on in this interactive map, Fergie, so it takes a while to load, especially on slower processors or with limited bandwidth. Give it ample time to finish loading before you try scrolling or using the features and it should run fine.
