Okay, this begs the question: Why? Why would someone decide to replicate currency using eggs? Was the job contracted first, or did the artist just get permission to build it somewhere and then head to the egg farm? We may never know, but this site has photos of the work in progress…

I will admit that it is an accomplishment but not all accomplishments are art. This isn't art any more than arranging chicken poop into the shape of a chicken. That would be a weird accomplishment but hardly art.
Of course it is art. Art is in the eye of the beholder so if the beholder sees art, it's art.
Isn't that brilliant. Everything is in the eye of the beholder. That doesn't "make" it anything other than what it is.
"Art: the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance."
Thank you Rudy! While this is an expression, it doesn't meet the criteria of being "what is beautiful or appealing or of more than ordinary significance." This will be taken down after a short display and I doubt anyone will miss it.
What do you mean? I think the definition makes my point. This is an expression according to aesthetic principles of something beautiful in the eye of its creator. I would bet a number of others agree. So its art.
We simply disagree. But I will bet that a year from now, when some other work is exhibited in that space, few if any will lament the removal of "that beautiful, appealing, extraordinarily significant work that was made of eggs."
What is the difference? This guy made something. He copied a piece of Chinese money by stacking eggs. It is pretty cool. Can't you just give him credit for making something cool? And if he calls it art as probably a lot of people do, who cares?
What about the kid who makes buildings out of cards? Is that art? Or is it just very cool? Why not just give credit where its due?
I don't care what any of you say, this is a piece of art. You can't deny that just because you don't think it falls into your narrow description of art. Any work that reflects an artists vision and meets some of the other attributes mentioned in the single definition above is art.
Don't like it? That's o.k. too. Then it's a work of art you don't like. But it is art.
The egg thing is alright but that floor has to go!
