Damn! Based on the numbers so far, it looks like we need to prepare to welcome socialism. I know, it is early, but I always hate when they predict a landslide so early. It influences people who haven't voted yet and they might decide what's the use driving to the poll.

I just got a recorded phone call giving me "up to the minute" stats and declaring that there is no chance for McCain. I am a registered Republican, so I have to think I and my fellow Republicans were blessed with this call to discourage me from bothering to go to the polling station. What a scam these guys are playing!

It's over, my friends. Let us all drink the collective KoolAid and ascend to the Mothership. There is no intelligent life on this planet.

Now what? I took today off to recover from watching till the end last night and I'm pretty depressed. I know people were tired of Bush, but geez!

In your face Republicans! In your face! We sent McCain to the oldfloks home and Palin back to moose hunting where she belongs. Now watch a real president get us out of the Bush mess!

I an very sad to see us rushing down the path toward higher taxes and a bigger welfare state. I guess people were just so angry at Bush, they were pushovers for the socialist agenda. I am afraid of where this is going to lead us.

Nice move America. Republicans tried to prevent the fannie mae disaster, democrats like Chris Dodd and Barney Frank stopped them, the economy buckled by democrat spending policy so what do the Americans do? Keep Dodd and Frank and vote out the republicans in the congress so you can have more democrats! Then you elect your most left candidate for president! How do you think this will help your economy unless you all want to live in a socialist state, that must be it. I speak first hand when I tell you that socialism isn't so great. It sounds good at first but goes bad.

Be careful what you ask for, you might get it.

We wanted "change" but never defined what "change" we meant. Obama promised to give us "change" and will, but it probably won't be the kind of change we meant. No way the majority of voters wanted a bigger social welfare state (except the recipients of it) or to be taxed more to finance it.

We asked for change and we'll get it. We just won't like where it takes us.

I can't say I am surprised. The RNC ran a terrible campaign while the DNC ran a great one, collecting the biggest campaign fund in history and outspending the RNC by at least 5 or 6 to 1. They "bought" the election, but they did it elegantly.

Obama campaigned as a centrist when he is actually a far, far leftist, and those leanings will come back to haunt us. The check and balance system is gone. Democrats barely missed their target of winning enough seats to wipe out even the possibility of filibuster, the only remnant of hope Republicans have left to fight bad legislation, and dems be trying to pick up the few remaining seats needed to kill that as well over the next few years. It may be as close to a dictatorship as we have ever come.

What can we do? Bend over for now. But keep the faith, hope people eventually realize what they have done and grow the balls needed to undo it.

I am suffering from election withdrawal. After 2 years of following the campaigns, I'm exhausted and let down. I hope there is a 12-step program for me. I need help.

At least we still have the filibuster. There are a few drops still in the glass.
