Michael, this isn't about Republicans or Democrats, it is about an awful choice of attire. I don't think it is even political. It is about a well known person showing up to the party in a horrible dress. It could have been Jessica Alba. You don't need to look away, it's safe.

The dress was designed to make Michelle look thinner. I don't think she or any of her handlers noticed the resemblance to a bw spider. But red screams "Look at me, I'm powerful!" Think Gloria Allred. Also, red and black together is hard and masculine. She would be smart to choose more feminine colors.
