More Client 9 Fallout
In the wake of the pop psychology gabfest spawned by the ever-evolving sex scandals of the New York governor’s office, and with every other conversation having something to do with hookers or managing to incorporate cheesy innuendo about “Client 9,” Los Angeles Times columnist Meghan Daum writes that she’s “still not entirely clear as to what we’re supposed to take away from this.” She concludes in her well written March 22 article, “No wonder we keep searching for meaning in a story whose real meaning is something we don’t exactly want to know.”
I disagree. I think we not only want to know, we want to clean up the mess and elect a better, more morally grounded class of officials. Trouble is, we feel helpless to stem the polluted tide of politicians from which we are allowed to choose. In our frustration, we sooth our disappointment with humor. We lick our wounds and try to laugh about the elephant in the room we feel powerless to get to leave.

When is the NY Post going to list Clients 1-8?
Unfortunately, many of us really don't want to know. And that is a big part of the problem with our society. Like you have said before, we have become veal calves.
The fact that so many gave Bill Clinton a pass after getting hummers in the White House illustrates just how far we have declined as a society. How do we climb out of such a deep hole?
We have to elect better representatives. We are the employer, they are our employees. We should fire the rotten apples and hire new ones.
Unfortunately, politics attracts people seeking ever increasing power (and its associated financial gain) at all costs. As a result, we choose candidates from a tainted pool. When we get what naturally follows - immoral or illegal behavior - we are disappointed and vow to choose better the next time around. Then we go to the same tainted pool and repeat the process with the same predictable outcome.
There sometimes are people of character who enter politics. Reagan was an example. But we seldom seek them out, instead allowing our political parties and main stream media to choose our candidates for us. We get what naturally follows.
I agree with Teddy. Client 1-8 is the real story here, the burning question. Keep watching the Post, they will be the ones to break the titillating story.
"Elephant in the room"....interesting choice of words, Mr. A.
Er, uh... I meant to say, er, "donkey" in the room... yeah, that's it! Donkey!
Nice catch, Mr. D!
Doug
Oh no...I think you got it perfect.
That's just your more liberal attitude showing through.
Oh, I'll REMEMBER this one!
Bwaaahahahaha!
What would some of us do without sleaze in the news? For some it's comic relief.
