Super Bowl XLIII - My Prediction
The biggest sporting event of the year has arrived. Super Bowl XLIII, or 43 for those whose education omitted Roman numerals, is here. The favored Steelers are hoping to make history with what could be their sixth NFL championship. The underdog Cardinals are looking to gain some respect by winning the franchise’s first Super Bowl. Conditions will be sunny and clear in Tampa Bay, Florida. With Bruce Springsteen performing at halftime and an estimated $3 million spent on 30 second commercial breaks, this Super Bowl promises to be a great game.
People have been asking me all week which team I think will take the trophy, and for a while I was non-committal, telling them that the Steeler defense would be hard to penetrate. I still believe that, but I’m going with the Cards. I believe this is their post season and I think they’ll win despite the line heavily favoring Pittsburg.
Here’s how I see it going down. Edge and Hightower will deliver a decent running game, subbing for each other so neither tires out. Warner will continue to throw to Fitz and Anquan will explode after another tirade like the one he threw during the conference championship game. That’ll get everyone’s emotions running high.
I also like the Cardinals’ defense; they’ve been keeping some great offenses in check. I know everyone is talking about the Steeler D, but I think the Cards great offense and good defense trumps the Steelers’ strong defense and sub-par offense.
I’m expecting a close game which will surprise many of you who are primed for a trouncing. The Cards by 3 in an upset.

I make it a point to NEVER watch Super Bowl ads. Commercials are not cool, they never were, never will be.

I used to enjoy the commercials as much as the game itself, but they haven't been very good the last couple years. Maybe things will look up this year.
Sorry Doug, but the Pittsburgh Steelers will win Super Bowl XLIII by a score of XXVIII - XXIV.
I think Pittsburg will trounce the Cardinals. But check out the movie trailer video for the newest Star Trek, airing during the game! Star Trek will land in theaters May 8, 2009.
Contrarian that I am, I predict it will be the Cardinals in a blowout. Something like 35-7.
Here are my predictions:
Prediction: Arizona will win the coin toss.
Prediction: It will be sunny in the Silicon Valley today.
Prediction: I’m looking forward to the commercials, but I believe these will be the worst commercials in years.
Prediction: I will eat too much!
Prediction: Fewer people will flush the toilet at halftime than in previous Super Bowls.

Peta has the right idea. Make an ad, tell everyone you are steamed because the TV network refuses to let you air it because it is too sexy. Release it as a "Banned" video and let it go viral. Millions in free advertising with only the cost of production. Genius!
Hey, does any body know if they are running the girls football Super Bowl against the NFK game this year? If the NFL game turns into a rout, we could switch to watching the girls play :))

I'll take the Cardinals and the points. Mostly cuz I still hate the Steelers from the 70's for beating the Cowboys before I knew better than to be a Cowboy fan.

Dude! You almost nailed it! The Cardinals had a 3 point lead right up to the last couple of minutes of the game! If the Steelers hadn't had a miracle reception touchdown, you would have hit it exactly right! It was an exciting finish!

Close only counts in horseshoes. However, I have to admit it was a good try in the last quarter and the Cards almost pulled it off. We watched on a friends giant screen and we were all on our feet at the end!
