The Juice Is On the Loose
“You can’t send me to prison. Who’ll look for the ‘real killer’?”O.J. Simpson walked free yesterday after posting $125,000 bond on armed robbery and kidnapping charges. He left the lockup a few hours after a Las Vegas judge set bail during a nine-minute hearing. Which begs the question: How does a guy with no visible income and no ability to pay the Goldman family any of the $33.5 Million he owes them for the wrongful death civil judgment awarded them for the death of Ron Goldman, come up with $125,000?
Anyway, he’s out and apparently returned to Miami pending his arraignment. Personally, I hope he gets the maximum sentence which I’ve heard could be life (I doubt it’ll go that way, but wouldn’t that be sweet justice?) I’ve heard thirty years, too, so it’s anyone’s guess at this point.
An interesting side note; It seems Marcia Clark, the prosecutor who tried Simpson’s double-murder case in 1995, sat in the front row of the courtroom. This time her hair was bleached blond and her role was a reporter for a tabloid TV show. Funny how things work out sometimes, isn’t it? But a bleach blonde? Go figure! More

Get real. If there is one African-American and/or an OJ worshiper on the jury, count on a hung jury.
I think the Goldman Family has gotten way too greedy. They don't need OJ's memorabilia. OJ was tended to in the civil trial which was to me a little extreme. I could understand manslaughter, but I don't see 1st degree murder charges.
Anyway, I think OJ should now be left alone and left to deal with this armed robbery thing in peace. If he's guilty of that, ok he's guilty. Do I think he's guilty of all that he was convicted of? NO I DO NOT. I do think he was after his things. Let's just let OJ alone.
A bail bondsman. He pledged something of value (more memorabilia?). Attorneys represent him for the notoriety (and hope to get paid down the road.)
Greedy? They lost their son!
OJ owes them $33mil and hasn't paid them. When they can get their hands on something of value to sell, it's only fair.
Leave him alone? He was after "his" things? Says who, OJ? Right.
I find it interesting and disturbing that we are still divided over the whole OJ thing. OK he was acquitted of the double murder even though the majority of the country believed he was guilty. We have all pretty much swallowed that pill. But the civil court found him responsible and awarded the Goldmans $33 million which OJ has essentially refused to pay. So when they get a chance to seize anything of value, that's well within their rights.
I'm afraid I can't agree with GDow67 that he should be left alone. I do have to wonder however what made OJ think he could get away with armed robbery, especially with his record. I think it speaks volumes about the way he thinks. He's a violent guy.
I have to side with GDow in that I think we need to let sleeping dogs lie. By that I mean his acquittal for the double murder. Whether we agree with the verdict or not is neither here nor there. That's what the jury said so that's it, case closed.
However, the current arrest is what it is. He should be tried and, if found guilty, sent to prison the same as any other poor shmuck. No special treatment, but no prejudices based on the old case, either.
That's how our system works.
Under normal circunstances, I would agree with GDow and Terrance. The difference is that in the double murder, the jury failed to do their job and the whole country got to watch the trial and saw the jury do a disservice to the legal system by ignoring the evidence. It was deliberate and blatant. So the majority of us are still stinging from that and still believe he should have been found guilty. And that, right or wrong, is influencing the way we look at OJ today, a guy we believe escaped the noose before and we don't want to see him do it again.
Now that he's made bail, I'm sure he's searching for the "real killers" on South Florida golf courses.
